Conservation Technical Assistance Initiative (CTAI)

CTAI is an agreement between the Branch Conservation District, Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (MDARD) and the United States Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS).

CTAI technicians, under the direction of the NRCS and the Branch Conservation District,  assist private landowners with technical and financial assistance through Federal Farm Bill Programs in order to implement various conservation practices.

Examples of these practices include Prescribed Grazing, Agrichemical Handling Facilities, Livestock Fence and Watering Systems, Heavy Use Area Protection, Stream Crossings and Controlled Water Access, Nutrient Management, Pest Management, Cover Crops, Irrigation Water Management, and Irrigation System upgrades.
